MFA provided design services for the construction of this five-story affordable housing apartment building in Silver Spring, MD. The 141,340 GSF building has 34 one-bedroom; 53 two-bedroom; and 15 three-bedroom units along with office areas, conference room and fitness center.
The building was constructed in compliance with the National Green Building Standard, and forty-two of the two-and three-bedroom dwelling units achieve the Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home certification. Additionally, the building incorporates a vegetative roofing system with integrated photovoltaic solar panels. The design includes spacious dwelling units with in-unit laundry, a central courtyard and covered parking below the building.
This project is financed by the Maryland CDA 9% LIHTC program.
