Parkview Manor: A Day to Celebrate!

Robert Garren, who has lived at Parkview Manor Apartments in Hyattsville since 1995, spread his arms and said: “It’s a beautiful day!” The cause for celebration was the completion of a transforming renovation of the property, which provides 53 affordable residences in a residential neighborhood close to many amenities.
Affordable Housing in Washington’s Gentrifying Brightwood Neighborhood

Constructed in 1952 in the low-density Brightwood neighborhood of Washington, DC, Fort Stevens Place Apartments became affordable housing in the early 2000s. In 2016, when the building’s affordability period under the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program was set to expire, the building’s tenant organization exercised its rights under Washington DC’s Tenant Option to Purchase Act (TOPA) and selected the nonprofit Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC) as the new owner.

The Beall’s Grant renovationproject was selected to receive a 2018 Peerless Rockville Award. The Awards Committee wished to recognize Alan Miner for his work on this project, which received recognition for Stewardship of a Local Resource, and Rehabilitation.
Renovations set for historic Baltimore apartments

The historic Marlborough Apartments overlooking the Bolton Hill neighborhood are set to undergo $14 million in renovations to help restore some luster to the building. After the renovations are complete, the historic property, which was built in 1907 as luxury apartments for Baltimore Jews who were banned from many of the city’s tonier neighborhoods, will continue to serve as Section 8 housing for elderly and disabled residents.
Developers Seek to Restore Lost Luster to Baltimore’s Marlborough Building

Developers are ready to restore some of the original glory back to the building, which was turned into 300 tenement units in the 1970s. In 1997, the structure was redone into 227 studio and one-bedroom apartments and has served as a Section 8 property reserved for elderly residents. Hamel Builders is scheduled to begin construction in March 2015. Alan Miner of Miner Feinstein Architects is the project architect.
